Policies

Registration

Registration, payment of tuition and fees, and minimum number of enrolled students are required to run a course. Please check your student account in Xen Direct to verify enrollment. You may also contact the Continuing Studies Center here:

Course Cancellation

The Center reserves the right to cancel any course or modify the schedule. This can also include cancellation at the first class meeting. Every attempt will be made to notify students if the course is canceled. In the event of such a cancellation, you will receive a full refund of all tuition and fees.

Authorized Installment Payment Plans

Certain courses and programs have been identified as eligible for a tuition installment plan. If a payment plan is available for a course, it will be noted at the course checkout. All payments on authorized installment plans must be made by money order or credit card only.

The Continuing Studies Center reserves the right to withhold the privileges of class attendance, use of facilities and services, and issuing of certificates for students that are delinquent in paying tuition and fees.

Warning Regarding Nonpayment

If students do not make full payment on their tuition and fees and other college bills and their account is sent to a collection agency, they will be responsible for all collection costs, including agency fees, attorney fees, and court costs, in addition to whatever amounts they owe the college.

In addition, nonpayment or a default judgment against the student's account may be reported to a credit bureau and reflected in the student's credit report

Registration Fee

Courses are subject to a non-refundable registration fee of up to $20. This will be applied at checkout.

Withdrawal Refunds

Tuition refunds are issued under the following conditions:

100% refunded when a written withdrawal notice is received 5 business days prior to the first class meeting

Written withdrawal requests must be sent to: citytech.ceinfo03@citytech.cuny.edu

80% refunded if a written notice is received 1 business day prior the second class meeting.

No refunds are given after the second class meeting.

Tuition refunds can take up to 30 days to process.

Registration fees are non-refundable.

Certificates

College certificates (aka microcredentials) for successful completion are issued on request to all eligible students.

Document Requests

Letters of attendance, transcripts, and reissued certificates may take up to 2 weeks to process and are subject to a fee of $20.

Class Meetings & Attendance

Unless you are notified otherwise, all courses will start according to the schedules listed in the registration system.

An instructional hour is 50 minutes in the Continuing Studies Center except where specifically noted in the course description. Successful completion requires 80% attendance and an overall passing grade or mark.

Financial Assistance

Federal financial aid is not available for continuing education courses. The Continuing Studies Center accepts duly authorized vouchers from public agencies, unions and private organizations. Please also note that several programs are approved for Veterans' Benefits. Students who meet Federal, State and City income guidelines may be eligible for Workforce Investment Act assistance for selected programs.

Physical Activities

Students who enroll in courses involving physical activities do so with the understanding that New York City College of Technology is absolved from responsibility and/or liability for personal injury and loss or damage to personal property.

Discounts

Senior Citizens 65 years and older, full-time New York City College of Technology faculty/staff, and current full-time City Tech students are eligible for a 15% tuition discount on a space available basis. The discount does not apply to courses with tuitions of $250 or less.
